With the conclusion on Monday’s 10 sectional qualifiers throughout the United States, the field has now been set for the 2014 U.S. Open. Monday marked the end of the qualification process that started back in early May for thousands of golfers. At the conclusion of Monday’s sectional qualifiers, 56 golfers punched their tickets to Pinehurst to go along with the 14 that qualified in England and the six that qualified in Japan. Those 76 golfers will join some of the best golfers in the world in North Carolina next week to play in our National Championship of Golf.
Two local golfers were among the 76 that survived the 36-hole final qualifier. European Tour and Conditional PGA Tour member Brooks Koepka shot rounds of 72 and 67 to advance from the England qualifier, while current Web.com Tour member and Jupiter resident Daniel Berger earned medalist honors at the qualifier at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach to earn his spot. He shot rounds of 66 and 68 to finish two strokes better than his closest competitor.
The 2014 U.S. Open will be held at Pinehurst #2 at Pinehurst Resort June 9-15.
